Today, January 11th, is the 28th anniversary of the marriage of my wonderful parents and I thought I'd put up a picture of their wedding announcement (designed by Jeff) and pay tribute to their HIGHLY successful partnership. This being a public arena, I don't think it too appropriate to dive into too many mushy details about why us kids love them so much. I will say that we do love them and that their marriage has been quite the example to Renee and I.
One funny memory I have, which is also the only time I've seen them argue, was when Dad was putting up the Christmas Tree a decade or so ago. He was having trouble with it, as I recall and ended up yelling something to mom that ended in "...Margo!". Derek, the "sensitive" child, stood up and said, "You're ruining Christmas!", and ran off to his room. He wouldn't come out until he saw that they had apologized properly.
All are invited to voice their congratulations and share a fond memory they have of the happy couple.
P.S. Please, none of the usual comments about changes in physical appearance.

They are a handsome looking couple, are they not? Then and now. I completely forgot about Derek's meltdown...it made me laugh.
They are a great example of how to make a marriage work, and I really appreciate all the many sacrifices they made for us, and each other. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!! I love you lots!
Brit...you so spoiled the fun about changing appearances. They are a wonderful couple, great parents and caring friends. We love the entire Olson Family (including Abuelita and Tia). When we count our blessings, we count your family 4 or 5 times!!
Happy anniversary to a handsome and loving couple. I'm glad you got married, moved to Brentwood, had kids I like, serve my family in the ward, and act as my kids school principal. We'd be lost without you. Plus, I'd never be able to get into Apple Hill.
Thanks for the nice tribute. Mom and I read it together...although we did not recall the xmas tree incident/argument...
Man, time sure can turn you from a handsome young couple to...well, what we are now...
Thanks to everyone for resisting the obvious desire to comment on the appearance of today's version of us. Sadly, in another 25 years will today's version even be yearned for???
Who's that lady in the picture with Derek?
She's an albino Peruvian.
Britt, what a nice tribute. I was feeling bad I didn't get the annual anniversary card off in the mail this year, but now I see they had plenty of congrats anyway.
Renee! Cherie tagged me and now I'm tagging you in a 'random facts about you game'..go to my blog for more details!
