I made a few friends while we were in Oakland that I'm really sad to leave behind. I didn't meet them at church because we were a little to transient for that. None of them actually live in Oakland. You might know them though. Stacie, Clinton, Giada, Anthony Bourdain, Bones and Booth, Padma, and Oprah. I could go on. There was so many new people to meet this summer and so many things they wanted to teach me (sell me). The time just flew by.
I've hardly had any TV since leaving my parents house back in '01. And besides the summer with Britton's family (when I couldn't figure out the many remotes), this is my first time with complete control over CABLE! That and the big flat screen TV was really a treat for me. Unfortunately in our small apartment it was hard to escape from the TV and I became kind of an addict.
I spent every lunch time with Stacie and Clinton learning what not to wear. Too bad I have to continue to wear wrinkled, disposable clothing. Dinner time was spent giving Bones and Booth advice about how to find various murderers. Britton and I would drool late at night as Padma criticized some scrumptious looking meal.
Now we're back at our own apartment in Stanford using hulu on our computer screen. I'll just have to look on the bright side. At least I won't be ignoring Will so much. Will managed to not get caught up in the funny/eye-catching/dramatic shows. I wasn't even sure he could see or understand what was going on with the screen. But one day he got all excited and said, "doggie, doggie!" during a dog commercial.
So what do I do with all the time I have reclaimed from the TV? I'm not really sure. The house isn't any cleaner. I haven't started any new hobbies. But Will has sure been enjoying the playground after being cooped up most of the summer!

heh. I got addicted to Home & Garden TV when I lived at mom's house. Couldn't get enough of those home improvement, design, & gardening shows! And who can resist TLC's Stacy & Clinton and their ambush makeovers?! Very educational; I think I dress better for having watched them repeatedly. ;-)
What would Friday night be without a date with Stacy and Clinton? If I'm lucky, I can catch all three hours! But I guess three hours of TV a week isn't too bad. Moderation in all things I say!
Thank goodness for gardens and indexing I'm so slow now days that I need a longer day. gg
I hate goodbyes. I am totally empathizing too because I said a VERY hard goodbye to cable a few weeks ago. Hulu has definitely become my close friend.
Hey Renee! We'd love to keep up with you through blogs...it's been fun catching up with your little family. We, too, love Bones and What Not to Wear, happy that the fall season has started. Not that we should be spending all our time on the tele, right?
Take care!
Sherry
